You connect your email account using OAuth (the same secure "Sign in with Google/Microsoft" you use everywhere). Authendrik uses Gmail API or Microsoft Graph API to monitor incoming emails. Everything runs locally on your Mac—we never store your emails on our servers.

This is how we guarantee your privacy. By using your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), all email processing happens directly between your Mac and your chosen AI provider. Authendrik never sees your emails or codes. It's the most privacy-focused architecture possible.

Authendrik uses push notifications from Gmail/Outlook, so it doesn't constantly poll your inbox. The app is extremely lightweight and has minimal battery impact—comparable to having any other menu bar app running.

Getting an API key is easy! We'll provide detailed setup guides for OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, and other providers. OpenAI's pay-as-you-go billing keeps OTP parsing well under a few cents per month in real-world use. Google Gemini (via AI Studio) includes a generous free tier for 1.5 Flash, and OpenRouter lets you route to community models—or stick to providers with free quotas—without extra cost. Prefer to stay offline? Point Authendrik at a local LLM server such as Ollama or LM Studio and keep everything on your machine.
